ABC stands for the Audit Bureau of Circulations, an external auditing company that verifies total average paid circulation for newspapers throughout the country. ABC conducts an audit of The Salt Lake Tribune’s and Deseret Morning News’ circulation each year for the 12-month period ending September 30.
In addition to the annual Audit Report, ABC releases a biannual Publisher’s Statement for The Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret Morning News every March 31 and September 30. The circulation numbers for the Publisher’s Statement are provided by the newspapers’ circulation department, which are then verified and accepted by ABC.
